Branding

Understanding the principles of effective branding can help nonprofits appreciate the enormous power of their brand -- a potentially rich but often overlooked resource. A recognized brand defines the nonprofit in the eyes of all stakeholders and helps the organization raise money and build demand for its services.

A nonprofit must also protect its brand by ensuring that its goods and services are always of high quality, that it meets its commitments and that important stakeholders are impressed with the operation and the success of the nonprofit in fulfilling its mission.

Among recent Branding projects:

  • For a Paterson, New Jersey nonprofit’s staff retreat, NESC conducted a comprehensive workshop on branding’s essential but often overlooked role in helping nonprofits expand programs and attract more donors.

  • For a major Queens public agency, NESC helped to identify ways to raise public and donor awareness of its key programs by designing a comprehensive branding strategy, including a slight alteration of its name.

  • For a Long Island-based rehabilitation facility, NESC conducted a branding consultancy to address the need for greater visibility and a new image to ensure continued growth and market penetration.

  • For a New York City community-based senior services center, NESC developed a branding program to position the organization and increase its visibility to potential clients, volunteers, all seniors and funders, and recommended marketing strategies and tactics.

  • For the Westchester branch of an organization that provides eldercare services, NESC developed a comprehensive branding and marketing plan in response to the client’s need to enhance and maintain awareness in the communities it serves.
