Board Development
For a Brooklyn nonprofit, the NESC team identified weaknesses in the board structure and then suggested how these could be addressed by recruiting new board members with specific strengths, such as fundraising and public relations.
Board Retreat Facilitation
A Staten Island museum asked NESC to facilitate a board retreat on strategic planning and board development to strengthen governance and committee structure and to motivate its board to raise money.
Branding
A major Queens public agency requested NESC's assistance in identifying ways to raise public and donor awareness of its key programs by designing a comprehensive branding strategy, including a slight alteration in its name.
Business & Strategic Planning
For a Brooklyn community service organization, the NESC team crafted an actionable strategic plan to invigorate its board, cope with reduced revenues and accommodate the changing demographics in its service area.
Executive Mentoring
NESC provided six months of mentoring to a prominent New York photo club and suggested ways to increase revenues by attracting new donors and by non-member usage of its facilities.
Executive Search
For a global trade association, NESC developed a three-year succession plan for the president, who wanted to retire. Interviews were conducted with the board, president and senior staff. Individual assessments and development plans were made for the most promising members of the executive team. Following a midpoint review, the board decided to conduct an external and internal search. NESC successfully recruited the new president.
Facilities Management
For a Staten Island group of historic homes, NESC's architectural consultant analyzed each building and developed detailed drawings to ensure ADA compliance at each location.
Financial Management
For a Manhattan medical facility the NESC team developed a Financial Department Policy & Procedures Manual in order to more clearly define its finance and staff responsibilities.
Fiscal Management & Accounting Services
For a small Manhattan foundation with international operations, the NESC team provided a qualified accountant to serve as its bookkeeper and controller and to consolidate on a monthly basis its foreign financial reports into the US operation.
Marketing
For a New York City materials recycling organization, the NESC consulting team prepared a strategic marketing plan to assist in identifying, analyzing and addressing the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats it was facing.
Organizational Analysis
NESC worked closely with a philanthropic organization providing assistance to overseas education institutions for disadvantaged students. The NESC team assessed the overall organization and developed enhanced role definitions for both staff and volunteer teams.
Risk Assessment
For a Manhattan social policy research organization, NESC conducted an enterprise risk assessment, identifying strategies and operational risks, and provided tools to management to enable systematic ongoing tracking of these risks.
Social Enterprise/Earned Income
For a Queens healthcare provider, NESC evaluated equipment sales and repair activity, and the feasibility of establishing a business operation in order to generate additional revenue.
Space Planning
The congregation's administrative unit engaged NESC to create revised space planning and layout studies of its primary religious facility, one of the foremost buildings of worship in New York City. The consulting team updated space plans and advised the client regarding improved building use and greater utilization of previously under-utilized space.
